Captain Hook Costume – Who Wants To Be Peter Pan’s Foppish Arch Nemesis ?
When it comes to pirate captain costumes the most popular is Jack Sparrow. This is mainly due to the popularity of the character and the fact that he is a composite of many looks that most people associate with pirates. However another costume that many people can consider is the Captain Hook costume. This costume has a story to tell of it’s own and is a fine, high quality outfit that many will love to wear.

Captain Hook is the villain of the famous Peter Pan story by JM Barrie, alternatively titled, “The Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up”. If you have read the book you will know this character well. Even if you haven’t read the book there have been all sorts of animated features and feature films about Peter Pan. Doubtless to say you are certainly aware of Captain Hook.
It’s always handy when getting a costume to have a character from some form of literature or media in mind because the characters traits are set out for you. Sure you may only act “in character” for a few minutes of so but it add to the whole excitement of the evening.
Captain Hook despises Peter Pan and by extension all his friends and acquaintances. This may have stemmed from the fact that Peter Pan lopped off his hand and fed it to a crocodile or maybe there is more to it. He spends all his time plotting Peter Pans demise and avoiding the nasty crocodile that has developed a taste for him since munching on his hand.
He is described as a mean but foppish character and his costume certainly reflects the foppish nature. He is well educated going to one of England finest schools and his dress sense proves this. He wears and elegant, long red jacket with gold trim and pronounced black cuffs. A ruffled jabot hints at his foppishness. The hook for a hand reveals his past and his hatred of Peter Pan.
